GCN at Grinduro Italy

Grinduro Italy: The world’s coolest gravel race?

GCN, the Global Cycling Network, sent their man Hank to Tuscany to take on his first ever gravel race: Grinduro Italy. A mix of gravel and mountain bike style enduro, it’s an event like no other.

The 103km route heads through the beautiful Tuscan countryside, starting from the tranquil coastline, before winding up into the punishing hills of Maremma. With four special timed stages to race for the win, and a relaxed lunch break on the terrace, including a glass of wine, it’s a unique experience!

Watch the video below to get GCN’s take on Grinduro Italy 2023.

James ‘Hank’ Lowsley-Williams is no stranger to a challenge. He’s conquered the world’s longest descent on a Chilean volcano and attempted to set the Land’s End to John o’Groats tandem record alongside Mark Beaumont, to name just two.

Despite his impressive list of achievements, Hank had somehow avoided any gravel challenges…until now. Virtually every GCN presenter has tackled the rough stuff, so we decided it was time for Hank to join his presenter companions by taking on some gravel.

There are lots of gravel events available worldwide, but GCN decided to enrol him into Grinduro Italy, one of the world’s coolest gravel events. Watch the video above to find out how Hank fared.
