Grinduro Australia Cancelled

Released: October 26, 2022

After two years of postponements with bushfires and the COVID-19 State of Emergency, Falls Creek Resort was gearing up to launch the inaugural and internationally acclaimed gravel biking festival, Grinduro, this December. Due to the recent landslide event on the main access road to Falls Creek Resort and the ongoing safety risk, Falls Creek Alpine Resort and the Grinduro Global team have made the difficult decision to cancel the 2022 event.

This occurrence, along with recent heavy rainfall, has meant that authorities (Department of Transport and SES) are working toward a relaxation of the road access constraints by Christmas subject to ongoing assessment of the landslide site.

The decision to cancel Grinduro Australia was based on rider safety as Emergency Services are at minimum of 2 hours away, travel time to the resort would be increased by 1-3 hours and supply constraints to the Falls Creek Village would not allow this event to be held in the true Grinduro Spirit.

The decision to cancel not only the inaugural Grinduro Australia event, but all 4 of Falls Creek Resort events scheduled for November and December 2022 has been tough but necessary. Grinduro ticket holders will be fully refunded, and we are now setting our sights on locking in a date for 2023.

Falls Creek Alpine Resort and the Grinduro team want to assure riders and event partners that we are still as excited as ever to bring you Grinduro Australia! We’ve got a world-class event with all the sounds, flavours and charms of the North-East waiting in the wings for Grinduro 2023.
