Grinduro Australia Postponed Until 2022

Published: 7th September 2021

Today Falls Creek Resort Management, alongside the Grinduro Global family, has announced the postponement of the Grinduro gravel riding event for another year.

The event, hosted by Cervelo, which was to be the inaugural Australian leg of the widely acclaimed international series, was originally scheduled for December 4th 2020.

Unfortunately due to the ongoing pandemic related restrictions, the organisers have made the difficult decision to push the event back to 2022. Falls Creek Event Supervisor, Nick Buckley explained that the current climate of uncertainty made proceeding further with the event impossible.

“Sadly, the current range of government restrictions, whilst necessary, make it impossible for us to safely and confidently proceed with this incredible event. We know the riders, partners and our mountain community will be bitterly disappointed to miss out on this event for the second year running. However, with international and state borders still closed and restrictions in some form, with us for the foreseeable future, now is not the time for us to launch Grinduro Australia.”

“Grinduro is about coming together to celebrate cycling, enjoy great food and have a proper party. The December event date is looming, and we have all agreed that we are unable to deliver the experience we all want with the current restrictions in place.”

“We want to assure riders and our event partners, who’ve stuck with us throughout this challenging period that we can’t wait to make Grinduro a reality. We’ve got a world-class gravel riding experience waiting for you, as well as a stunning range of local flavours for you to try. We’ve locked in Saturday 3rd December as the event date for 2022 and we’re confident that it’ll be third times a charm for Grinduro Australia!”
