The Eifel is a region famous for both delighting and torturing cyclists. So no surprise that we came here to host an event as wild as Grinduro Germany. But what exactly is Grinduro? It’s a combo of a gravel grinder road race and mountain bike enduro: one long loop on all kinds of terrain, where finishing times aren’t based on overall loop time, but four timed segments.
The routes are a mix of everything from pavement, gravel and single trail. Grinduro is held in enduro format, with four stages ridden in race mode, the rest of the tour can be enjoyed without time pressure. It's both beautiful and challenging. With a well-balanced mix of paved and unpaved, flat and hilly, fast and technical, social and competitive. But that's not all, Grinduro is a weekend-long gravel cycling festival, featuring live music, camping, great food and bicycle expo.

Grinduro Germany is located at Wildbach Camping, Hellenthall, one hour from Cologne, right next to the Eifel National Park. The area is a paradise for cyclists and the site is connected to many well marked trails.

Car Parking and Camping is included in the race entry fee for all competitors. We have a large and mainly flat grass field with easy access. Please follow the instructions from the car parking stewards. Booked a camper spot? Please enter the main entrance of Wildbach Camping.
In short, Grinduro Germany is just what the name suggests: gravel road race + mountain bike-style enduro = one long loop of pavement and dirt, where finishing times aren’t based on overall loop time, but four or five timed segments. But Grinduro is not just a bike race. It’s a celebration of cycling with as much emphasis on the fun as the ride, with excellent food, an impressive display of art and incredible handmade bikes, live music, camping, and a festival atmosphere.
The fun starts on Friday afternoon with the Prologue, a chance to dial-in your ride and race your buddies on the special stage for some top prizes! Chill out on Friday night with food and live music, or browse the Grinduro brand expo.
Saturday is the big one: a signed 100km course, 4 timed stages, epic riding, stunning views, good times! The rest of the loop is untimed, meaning you can ride as fast or as relaxed as you choose... Hang out with your friends, relax at our feed station halfway at the campsite, chill at the beer stop. Or just go hard all day! 3 wholesome meals are included in your entry for Saturday, along with the loudest post-ride party in the Eifel region!
In 2023 we will add a Grindurito. It’s not quite as challenging, but still a healthy bite of the Grinduro experience. You’ll ride the first loop of the Grinduro course, which is a pleasant 50 km. The Grindurito ride is not timed, and while it doesn’t include an official awards ceremony, your prize is knowing you had one heckuva fun ride! You can participate in the Prologue on Friday but there will be no time registration.
The routes and stages will be communicated to the riders as soon as our routebuilders create them.
On Sunday morning, join the Hangover Ride - a laid back spin around the Eifel for those of you who didn't party too hard the night before!
Grinduro Germany includes some of, if not the best riding within the Eifel region. The 100km course includes challenging hill climbs, fast gravel roads and twisting singletrack sections. With over 6,000ft of climbing, the course is a challenge but it rewards you back with great riding and stunning views of this special corner of Germany.
Grinduro features four timed stages throughout the day for you to race for victory. These demand everything from the participants and the faster overall will achieve podium glory!
The rest of the loop is untimed, meaning you can ride as fast or as relaxed as you choose... Hang out with your friends, relax at our feed stations, chill at the beer stop. Or just go hard all day!
Stage 1: Singletrack (800m)
Focus and stay sharp on this downhill singletrack stage!
Stage 2: Downhill (2300m)
Wide gravel road in the depths of dark forest with some nasty pot holes to stay alert for. Slippery when wet!
Stage 3: Undulating (2600m)
Wide gravel road through open fileds and a false flat to trick you out.
Stage 4: Hill Climb (2000m)
Long and steady climb after a very steep cobblestone section... you'll be climbing hard before you even reach the stage start! The terrain is loose and rocky gravel, doubletrack. Keep going, the finish is just around the corner!

1. If a Participant decides, for whatever reason, to no longer participate before the start of the
Event, total or partial reimbursement of the registration fee is not possible.
2. If the Event is postponed to a later date due to force majeure, the Organization will not be
responsible for the costs incurred by the Participants, including the Registration Fee, if the
Participant decides not to participate in the postponed event.
3. If a Participant decides, for whatever reason, to no longer participate during the event,
compensation of any other costs incurred shall not be possible.
4. If the Event is canceled due to force majeure, the Organization will not be responsible for the
costs incurred by the Participants, including the Registration Fee.
Camping is included with your entry and is located within close proximity to the main arena in the Grinduro.
You will have a choice to camp in the Party Area (close to the stage and entertainment) with electricity, the Quiet/Family Camping area with electricity or the Back to Basic Area (beautifully scenery next to a brook, without electricity but there are power stations available in the main arena). There is also an option to upgrade to a Camper Spot (also for vans, motorhomes, caravans).
Cars are not allowed on the campsite. There is a central parking area available close to the registration desk and a short walk to the camp areas. Our volunteers and parking signs will help you out parking your car.
Make sure you pack everything you’d normally need for camping (tent, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, torch etc. Maybe bring some earplugs also, you might have a snoring neighbour ;-)
For those camping in tents, motorhomes and caravans, all vehicles must be parked in the parking area, please ensure the hand brake is on and the vehicle is in gear. Only those with a camper spot can enter the camping. Please enter the main entrance of Wildbach Camping. Our volunteers will guide you to the right spot. After parking your camper you can register at the registration desk.
Fancy a little extra glam at Grinduro or perhaps you just don't wanna drag all that camping gear around with you? This year we have 20 glamping tents available at Grinduro Germany, giving you the opportunity to add some LUX to your MAXIN' & RELAXIN'.
These tents have it all and are set up ready for your arrival for the full weekend!
Grinduro Germany will be celebrated over three days on several gravel rides in the heart of the Eifel region. The races are held in enduro format, which means that during the main race on Saturday, a maximum of four sections are ridden against the clock, while the rest of the ride can be enjoyed without time pressure. The "stages" can have all kinds of characteristics: Uphill or downhill, on asphalt, gravel or even singletrack.
On Friday afternoon, the Grinduro Prologue will take place as a warm-up. A short, challenging round with one stage on asphalt, gravel and trail. The ranking of the Prologue has no influence on the overall Grinduro ranking on Saturday.
The Grinduro features 100km of the best gravel riding with the most beautiful views you will find in Eifel region. Two stages will be hosted in the morning, riders will break for lunch, then attack the afternoon ride with two final stages.
Those who still have enough energy in their legs after the party on Saturday evening can enjoy the panoramic ride on Sunday. This is an easy and relaxed ride to stretch out the legs and enjoy some relaxed trails around the Hellenthal region.

We’ll have a podium awards ceremony on the main stage in the Grinduro Village on Saturday evening. The top three finishers of each category will be brought onto the stage for their moment of glory. In addition to fame and bragging rights, each winner will take home a Grinduro trophy and other great surprises!
Grindurito is a fun ride without categories. It isn’t timed, so you and your crew can just get out there and have a fun time without the pressure of racing the clock.
Life is about more than riding a bike. Grinduro Germany features a great music festival with live music and DJ's. So prepare for a good party with craft beer, marshmallows at the campfire and hearty food!

For those of you who need things spelled-out, here you have it…
THE BEST BIKE:You can ride any type of pedal-driven bicycle (no electric-pedal assist!), although we recommend a gravel bike or hardtail MTB for Grinduro. The ultimate setup is probably a disc brake-equipped gravel bike with fast-rolling 40c or wider, tubeless tires and a 1x11-speed crank set... We prefer Shimano GRX. Be prepared with at least two extra tubes, a multi-tool and mini-pump.
The Eifel in May can surprisingly be hot or cold. Important to check the weather forecast before you’re heading to Hellenthal. Make sure you bring layers — ideally arm/leg warmers and a jacket as well as a warm sleeping bag.
There will be feed zones (and an excellent lunch!), but smart riders will be self sufficient and bring at least two water bottles and their favourite nutritional supplies.
And don’t take to the start line without a helmet on!
We love good food. Therefore, we have planned a fantastic offer for the weekend. Riders and their companions will be welcomed to Grinduro on Friday with an inclusive dinner. You will also get breakfast, lunch and dinner on Saturday, plus, breakfast on Sunday morning!
