OUR COVID-19 POLICY

​With vaccinations currently being rolled out around the globe, we feel that travel and events will be able to resume in a more normal fashion later this year. We are confident that we have the appropriate policies and procedures in place to allow Grinduro events to be run safely when they return to the calendar later in 2021.

We have produced the following guidelines to ensure the safety and health of our riders at Grinduro events. These are the minimum recommendations for what can be safely achieved while maintaining the successful feel of a Grinduro event. Grinduro events will also follow the local laws and COVID guidance in their area.


A Grinduro event will only proceed once we have addressed the following questions:


  • Based on local and national legislation and guidelines, can we conduct an event?
  • Can we conduct an event without compromise to the Grinduro experience?
  • Will our event have a negative impact on the health and livelihood of the local community?
  • Will our riders feel that adequate provision has been put in place to ensure the safety of their health?

Grinduro Global are determined that events should only proceed on the proposed date in the Grinduro calendar if the above criteria can be met.


Where possible we have asked our promoters to implement the following measures to reduce transmission risk:


  • Communicate rider numbers in advance and segregate registration by rider number
  • Extend registration opening times to reduce overcrowding – registration to now be open from Midday to 11pm on Friday

  • Encourage as many riders as possible to stay on the event site
  • Use the final rider briefing to suggest additional measures that should be taken by individuals
  • Give a start window of 30 minutes and separate starters into ‘waves’, reducing crowding
  • Increase hand washing/sanitisation facilities and suggest riders bring their own hand sanitiser
  • Provide additional cleaning equipment etc for staff at feed zones
  • Ensure there are additional waste collection facilities and staff around at the event village to reduce litter
  • Foodstuffs served in individual portions at feed zones and campsite meal provision - no shared servings
  • Grinduro after party to be hosted in an open-air environment allowing for increased social distancing

How we will deal with issues which may prevent an individual from attending a Grinduro event


There are individual scenarios related to COVID-19 that may affect your ability to attend a Grinduro event. This coupled with the likelihood of changing guidance from different countries, and the fact that our participants often travel from around the world, means it is impossible for the Grinduro management team and our organizers, to have a rule for every possible situation.

Our overarching COVID-19 strategy is designed to offer a safe event environment, while also allowing us to operate Grinduro events with some certainty. If because of individual circumstances (i.e. not something that affects the entire event) you are unable to take part, you will need to contact us and allow us to work with you to produce a satisfactory resolution.

Below are some answers to common questions you may have:

What happens if there is a local lockdown that prevents me travelling to the event?

If the area/country where you live is put under a local lockdown, we would expect you to follow the guidelines from the relevant authorities. If these guidelines include advice not to travel to another area or country, which therefore prevents you from attending, we will review your case with the intention of transferring your entry to the next Grinduro event in 2021 or 2022 in that region.


What happens if I test positive or I am forced to self-isolate ?

If you test positive for COVID-19, or are forced to self-isolate within 10 days of the start of the event, you will need to email us at hello@grinduro.global with a copy of communications outlining your status. We will review your case with the intention of transferring your entry as a credit to the next Grinduro event in 2021 or 2022 in that region.


What happens to the travel plans that I have booked for an event, if I can’t make it or the event is cancelled due to COVID-19?

Unfortunately, we are not able to reimburse travel costs. We encourage everyone to take out appropriate travel insurance which includes COVID-19 cover.


What happens if the whole event is cancelled due to COVID-19?

If Grinduro Global and our event partners are forced to postpone an event in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, you will automatically be transferred to the new date.


Refunds

Terms and conditions for Grinduro events differ geographically and riders should review these prior to entry. Refunds are at the discretion of the event organizer and the T&C's specific to that region. Please contact the event organiser directly, using the contact form on the website.
