Grinduro’s Art and Bike Exhibit is a curated display of some of the most interesting and elaborate works of art in cycling. We showcase the independent artisans and the iconoclasts who rarely get the spotlight at traditional trade shows and bike events.

In addition, The Bicycle Academy’s Andrew Denham will be hosting a steel-brazing clinic, open to all Grinduro riders. You’ll get to wield a torch and take home your own unique creation.

In addition to the handmade bike exhibit, we’ll have work on display from some of our favorite artists, photographers and craftsmen. The Grinduro Art Exhibit is basically a curated collection of our favorite, mostly-bike-related things. It’s two parts handmade bicycle display, one part art exhibit, one part independent craft fair and one part bike shop.

New for 2017, the Art and Bike Exhibit at each Grinduro is open to ten vendors through an application process. If you’re interested in showcasing your creations at Grinduro, let us know and the judges panel will review your application.

If you’re approved, you will be asked to pay £200. The fees will give you a display space, your logo will be included right here on Grinduro.com and we’ll make sure that your works of art are visible onsite as well as in the post-event imagery and video.

Grinduro Scotland: Applications accepted through May 12, 2017. Approved vendors announced May 15, 2017.

We believe that bike riders’ health, attitude and performance is directly related to the foods that they eat, so we put Podium Catering in charge of breakfast, lunch and dinner on race day. They’re experts in feeding hungry bike racers, but don’t take our word for it—check out this menu:

  • American style blueberry pancakes with streaky bacon and maple syrup
  • Porridge and selection of cereals and milks
  • Selection of fruit juices, ground coffee and tea.

  • Bean, tomato and pasta stew—with added meatballs for the carnivores
  • Served with crusty loaf bread and green salad

  • Chili con carne with basmati rice (beef and vegetarian options)
  • Served in a crisp corn tortilla taco shell
  • Topped with grated mature cheddar cheese and fresh coriander
  • Sticky toffee pudding served with butterscotch sauce with whipped cream

Saturday’s breakfast, lunch and dinner are included in the cost of the Grinduro entry.

We’re proud to announce that one of our favorite bands, The Van T’s, is going to be headlining! We’ve been mesmerized by this twin sister led four-piece Glaswegian surf-rock band. But don’t take our word for it, here’s what Consequence of Sound has to say:

“You could call The Van T’s a surf rock band, but only if your idea of surfing involves getting pummeled by a giant wave and/or attacked by a seriously pissed-off shark. Twin sisters Hannah and Chloe Van Thompson seem to delight in throwing sunny pop riffs into a blender set on ‘crush,’ and the results tend to be as catchy as they are caustic.”

We’re also working on a few other special musical guests, including a DJ to take the party into late night. Stay tuned for more info.

Location & Travel

The Isle of Arran is known as “Scotland in Miniature,” with more than 60 miles of rugged coastline, lowland marsh, soaring peaks, historic ruins and seemingly endless gravel roads. Arran has also become one of the UK’s major trail riding destinations, with trails ranging from steep and technical to fast and flowing. In other words, it’s the perfect location to host the Grinduro.

The Grinduro experience begins at the port of Ardrossan, which is close to major road networks and less than an hours drive from Glasgow. But why not leave the car at home? The port of Ardrossan is also easily accessible by train, with its own train station offering connections from Glasgow rail stations every hour. Glasgow also offers an international airport, making travels easy and stress-free if you’re coming from a distance.

Arran is only accessible by ferry and inclusive in the entry is return travel as a foot passenger and secure parking for your vehicle at the ferry terminal. Bikes and luggage will be transported by the event allowing you a relaxing sea crossing and a chance to ease in to the Grinduro weekend. When arriving on Arran you will be transported to the event village and reunited with your bike and bags.

We’re offering free camping at the Grinduro site in Lamlash (see below), but if you’d rather stay in a hotel, you can find options here.

Grinduro Scotland is based in Lamlash, on the Isle of Arran. We’ll be surrounded by rugged mountains with outstanding coastal views. We like camping near beaches and mountains, and we thought you’d probably enjoy it too. So we’re offering free camping to Grinduro racers in Lamlash. The camping will be in close enough proximity to the event village for ease of access but far enough away you can still enjoy a peaceful night’s sleep. There will also be very limited option of camper vans if booked well in advance.
