Set your stoke levels to 11 - it's the latest edition of the Grinduro Gazette - our monthly round-up of Grinduro news from around the globe!
When the Grinduro California event registration opened back in May, we knew it was going to be popular, but we didn't realise it was going to be so popular - the whole event sold out in 4 hours! The organizers are working super-hard to make the event safe, compliant with Covid19 regulations and most importantly fun. They're keeping a close eye on the Covid19 situation and will keep all the entrants up to date with any changes.
The team at Grinduro California have been leading the way in promoting gender equality at this year's event and were recently featured in Outside Magazine who showcased their amazing efforts. For the 2021 Grinduro California event, the team are going to increase their efforts on inclusivity and equality even further and are going to reserve 50% of the event places for FTW (femme, trans, women) riders.
The team at SRAM got in touch to talk about their new Force AXS gearing options - now with a wider gear range, perfect for extended climbing on gravel. Low gearing is perfect for loose gravel surfaces, where traction can often be difficult to find. SRAM have also put together a really great article about searching for gravel Nirvana in the hills of Los Angeles - check it out here.
The organising team for Grinduro Wales have decided that due to uncertainty over Covid19 issues in the UK, they needed to re-schedule the Grinduro Wales event. The new date for the event is now 10th October 2020. Refunds are available for anyone who can't make the new date. You can read the full news story here.
Jack Noy, from event sponsors Canyon UK, said "Title sponsors Canyon are going all-in on supporting Grinduro to produce the best event possible. With a host of activations planned around the new October date, Grinduro Wales is not to be missed. Bring on the mud"
We have some sad news to pass on this month too. Despite their best efforts, the Grinduro team in Canada have taken the decision that it's not possible to run the event safely this year, so Grinduro Canada has been postponed until 2021. You can read the full news story here.
David Regnier-Bourque, from event sponsors Devinci, said this "We really tried everything to keep hope alive – we even thought up a reduced format for the event. We imagined all the possible scenarios. Then we realized the obvious - the spirit of Grinduro is community. - the fun of being together, exchanging, eating, riding, camping and celebrating together! Distorting such a beautiful event is not an option; we prefer to get even more stoked and meet back in 2021."
